Inline upsells allow vendors to add value for customers and increase revenue on their front-end offers. They are a great way to enhance your offer overall. Here, we’ll discuss inline upsells and how you can add them.

This technique can also be leveraged for special promotions, like Black Friday discounts, to maximize sales during limited-time events.

What is an Inline Upsell?

An inline upsell is offered at the time of checkout. It allows you to add a product as an upsell that can be purchased immediately, without going through the rest of the offer sequence. It is often used to add extra value to the main product.

In some cases, vendors may opt to duplicate existing products to customize them as inline upsells, ensuring alignment with promotional goals and audience preferences.

For example, you can offer the next upsell in your sequence at a special price if the customer purchases it at checkout. You can also change the payment type for the upsell or set a specific commission rate for inline upsell purchases.

For instance, consider crafting a Black Friday deal as an inline upsell with exclusive pricing and limited availability.

How Do I Add an Inline Upsell?

The inline upsell option is available on the offer setup page, under the individual product you are adding to the offer. To add an inline upsell, go to your offer editor and click on the product name you want to modify.

From there, a window will open with the options for that particular product. If available, click on the "New Inline Upsell" button.

When that window opens, select the product you want to use as the inline upsell. This will open a window displaying the inline upsell options.

The available options are based on the settings for that product. You can change the payment method, price, and even the message displayed at checkout. This is also where you can adjust the commission rate specifically for the inline upsell, which can differ from the commission rate for purchasing the upsell through the regular offer path.

Reusing elements like existing product settings or sales pages can help streamline the process; however, creating distinct offers for special events ensures better targeting and customization.

Please Note: The affiliate commission for an inline upsell is controlled in this window, and is not affected by changing the commission rate for affiliates from within the “My Affiliates” page.

Once you are satisfied with the settings, simply click the "Save" button at the bottom of the window, and it will be added to your offer.

Advanced Strategies: Inline Upsells and Special Promotions

To make the most of inline upsells, consider using them for special promotions like seasonal events. Configuring inline upsells for events, such as Black Friday, allows for tailored pricing and messaging to drive higher conversions. By creating distinct promotional offers, you can better cater to your audience's needs and increase overall sales effectiveness.

Why Am I Not Seeing the Inline Upsell Option in My Offer?

Currently, the inline upsell option is only available to vendors who meet a minimum vendor score. If you do not see the option to add an inline upsell, it likely means that your vendor score does not yet qualify. As soon as your vendor score reaches the required minimum, the inline upsell option will become available for any offers you currently have or add later. If your score falls below the threshold, the inline upsell will be turned off and will no longer work if it is integrated with any of your offers.
